What is low, high and peak season?

Low season: Beginning of May to mid-November

High Season: Mid-November to end of April

How far in advance can I reserve a property?

Properties may be reserved as early as a year in advance. Bayside does give our previous year’s renters priority to rebook for the same dates. You may view property availability on it’s profile page. We are constantly adding new inventory so be sure to keep checking our listings or contact us to find you an accommodation that suits you best.[hr] 

How accurate is the availability calendar?

Our online booking calendar is frequently updated, however availability changes very quickly. As a result we can only confirm availability once we receive your reservation contract.[hr]

How do I book the property?

A Bayside Vacation Rental representative will provide you with a detailed breakdown of costs, taxes, and optional vacation add-on’s (i.e. airport transportation). We will email you our rental contract for review and completion. Once we receive the completed/signed contract the property will be on hold for 48 hours pending payment of the reservation deposit (or full payment, depending on the timeline of the reservation).[hr]

How much do I pay to reserve the property?

The majority of our Huatulco properties are priced in USD. Viewpoint at Puerto Angel is priced in CAD.

  • 50% of the total rental price is due within 48 hours from the time of submitting the rental agreement.
  • Bookings shall be confirmed by email by the Company on payment of the deposit.
  • Receipt of any deposit prior to the Company’s written confirmation of the reservation shall not constitute acceptance of any booking.
  • All payments shall be made to the Company by credit card, email money transfer, wire transfer or in cash.

Monthly & Christmas / New Year’s Rentals:

  • The balance shall be payable 90 days prior to to the commencement of the holiday.

Weekly Rentals:

  • The balance shall be payable 30 days prior to to the commencement of the holiday with the exception of Christmas & New Year’s.

What are the additional fees I have to pay?

Additional fees include a non-refundable damage insurance fee of $55.00.  This fee has been included in your quote and replaces a security deposit which eliminates having to put up a security deposit or deal with having your deposit returned when you get home. Return home with vacation memories, not repair costs.

We also charge for electricity usage during your stay. We take both an initial and final electricity read when you arrive and check out. The electricity payment is charged to the credit card on file when the out meter reading is taken or in pesos upon check out.[hr]

Should I obtain travel cancellation insurance?

Yes, we recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance as it provides you with coverage for unforeseen problems, from a cancelled flight to a serious illness—or in rare cases, even an act of terrorism or the financial default of a travel supplier. If an illness, accident, or other covered unforeseen circumstance forces a traveler to cancel or interrupt their plans, they face two major financial losses—money invested in nonrefundable pre-payments, and medical expenses that in many instances may not be covered by health insurance. If you choose not to purchase trip cancellation insurance we will attempt to reschedule the property for you. If we are unable to reschedule, any payments received will be forfeited to Bayside Vacation Rental.[hr]

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations should be in writing and are effective from the date we receive and acknowledge your fax or email.

For Monthly & Christmas/New Year’s Rentals:

• Cancellations made from day of confirmation until 120 days prior to arrival – 20% of the total rent as cancellation fee.
• Cancellations made 119-90 days prior to arrival— 50% of the total rent is non refundable.
• Cancellations made 89 days or less prior to arrival — 100% of total rent as cancellation fee.

For Weekly Rentals:

• Cancellations made from day of confirmation until 90 days prior to arrival — 20% of the total rental as a cancellation fee.
• Cancellations made 89-30 days prior to arrival — 50% of the total rental as a cancellation fee.
• Cancellations made 29 days or less prior to arrival — 100% of total rent as a cancellation fee.

How far is Viewpoint from the Huatulco International airport?

Viewpoint is a 50 km or 40 minute drive from the Huatulco airport.[hr]

How do I get to Viewpoint at Puerto Angel?

A. Airport Transportation

Viewpoint can be difficult to locate, especially if you arrive at night. To ensure you arrive safely and easily to Viewpoint we offer airport pick up and transportation to and from the condo. Some of the benefits of using our transportation services are:

  • Arriving to Viewpoint safely, quickly & easily by a trusted representative of Bayside Vacation Rental.
  • Getting assistance with your luggage into your suite.
  • Not having to negotiate with taxis upon arrival at the airport after a long day of travel.

If you wish to take advantage of our airport transportation services please contact us for a quote at bookings@baysidevacationshuatulco.com. We will follow up to confirm your flight time and schedule your pick up at the airport.

B. Car Rental Agencies: 

Renting a car will give you ultimate independence for your stay at Viewpoint. Please contact us for a list of rental agencies for reservation. We always recommended to follow up with the service you’ve rented with a week before your arrival to confirm your reservation and confirm they have a car for you arrival. There have been instances, especially during Christmas and Easter, where the agency does not have a car available upon arrival.

C. Taxis:

For transportation from the airport at Huatulco to Puerto Angel, you can take a taxi on arrival with no need to book in advance. The cost is approximately $700 pesos; however you can try to negotiate a reduced price.

If you decide to rent a car or take a taxi we will not be able to offer assistance with your luggage to your condo.[hr]

How do I get around during my stay?

Viewpoint is located on top of a hill on a point. It takes 10-15 minutes to walk to and from town from the development. There are many taxis in Puerto Angel that are very inexpensive. You can pre-arrange taxi pick up with our office administrator during business hours. After business hours you will have to walk down the hill to town in order to catch a taxi.[hr]

Where can I buy groceries and food items in Puerto Angel?

There are many grocery stores and markets located in Puerto Angel where you can find all the items you will need for your stay. There is also a butcher, rotisserie chicken shop and beachside restaurants where you can dine in Puerto Angel and along the coast in neighboring beach communities. We provide a full guide for your stay on our favorite restaurants along with the available grocery stores and shops.[hr]

What kind of currency should I bring?

We recommend bringing pesos with you for trip.  Puerto Angel and area is very cash driven. Not many places accept credit cards in the area. The closest bank and ATM is in Pochutla, a 10 minute drive from Puerto Angel. Here you can find HSBC, Scotiabank along with a couple other ATM’s in town. There are stand-alone ATMs in Zipolite and Mazunte, however we advise caution as they have been known to eat cards. [hr]

What happens if I get sick during my stay?

Should you get sick during your stay please have our property manager of the office administrator contact the local physician for you.  He does not speak english therefore it is best to let the administrator know of your ailments when she calls the doctor. In addition, there are 2 pharmacies in Puerto Angel to purchase over the counter medications. [hr]

Can I drink the water at Viewpoint?

Drinking Water is available for purchase at the condo. Please ask the on-site Administrator or your Property manager. They will arrange to have a bottle brought to your unit for a small fee (in pesos).[hr]

What can I expect when I arrive at Viewpoint?

The town of Puerto Angel is a small fishing village. It is very authentic Mexico with only a few amenities. When you arrive to the edge of town you will begin your journey up a winding road to the condo development. The road is bumpy and becomes very rough toward the end. Please be prepared for this. We will send you directions and a video showing the drive to the condo from Viewpoint. It is very important that you view and print the directions & watch the video beforehand. If you do not take these precautions before you arrive you may get lost, especially if you arrive after dark.

If you arrive before 5pm the gate to the development will be unlocked. You can unlock the gate and enter with your vehicle or taxi and head down to the end of the parking lot. When you reserve your condo we send you specific instructions on where you condo is located within the building. If you have used our airport transportation services our driver will help you to your unit with your luggage. If you do not use our services you will be responsible to handle your own luggage. Because Viewpoint does NOT have an elevator there will be stairs to climb to reach your condo unit. The higher the condo floor you’ve reserved, the more stairs there will be to climb.

If you arrive after 5pm the gate will be locked and our on-site security guard will provide you with the key to your unit. There is a buzzer to the left of the gate. Please ring the buzzer and the guard will greet you at the gate with your property key and gate key card. The security guard does NOT speak english. He will have your name and unit number so you can tell him your name when you arrive to confirm your arrival. Our security guards will not be able to assist you with your luggage. If you lost your property key or gate card you will be billed $50.

What if we are hungry when we arrive? Where can we eat?

If you have chosen not to take advantage of our pantry stocking service, you can walk down to town and head to the beach to dine at a local restaurant. Alternatively, you can take a taxi to Zipolite, a 10-minute drive from the condo. This beach is the place to eat. Have the taxi drop you on the main road and choose from many great restaurants serving everything from authentic Mexican, Italian and delicious seafood. Look to our arrival package for our favorite restaurants all along the Oaxaca coast. If you let your taxi know the name of the restaurant they should know where to go. 

Remember, if you get lost in the taxi on the way home, tell them to take you to Punta Bañada or the ‘big white hotel’ (‘el gran hotel blanco’). That is what some of the locals call the Viewpoint Development.[hr]

When is Check in/Check out?

Check in is 4:00pm and check out is 11:00am. This ensures enough time is left for same day arrivals as the property will need to be cleaned and prepared. If you’d like a late check out please let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate. However if we have a same day arrival we will have to honor the 11:00am check out time. You are welcome to use the property’s on-site facilities until you depart. [hr]

What should I bring?

All of our properties include linens, towels and essentials for your stay. We recommend bringing your own shampoo, soap, sunscreen and other toiletries as they are not provided. We provide a starter kit of household supplies only (i.e. toilet paper, dish soap, etc). If you think you will need more than what is provided, you may purchase the at the local grocery store.[hr]

Can I have guests visit the property during my stay?

All guests must be registered with Bayside Vacations. The maximum occupancy details are clearly stated on the property profile and will be included in your booking package.[hr]

Should I bring my cell phone?

Cell service is available,however can be spotty at times – check with your service provider for rates. Cell phones and landlines are not provided in our properties. 

*Tip: if you have a cell phone plan during your stay download the ‘Whatsapp’ app. Add the contact numbers for the taxi (be sure to enter + 52 1 as the prefix) and you’ll be able to message your taxi whenever you need to be picked up.[hr]

What if I don’t like the Property when I get there, will you move me to a different one?

We want you to enjoy your stay as much as possible. However, we are not able to move you to another property, or make any refunds or discounts, if you are dissatisfied due to your contract with that particular property. Please ensure you preview the property before entering into the contract.[hr]

Will I be disturbed during my stay?

During your stay it may be necessary for repairs, exterminating, or other service providers to enter the property. We will attempt to provide you with a minimum 24 hours notice. Entry is required for property preservation for you, future tenants, and the owner, and cannot be held off, denied or rescheduled. In addition, if the property is for sale we may need to show the property to any potential buyers. We regret any inconveniences this may cause but we promise to keep them to a minimum.[hr]

How does satellite TV and WIFI work?

Check the Property Description for details as to whether Satellite or Cable TV is provided. Most properties have a television and DVD player only.

Each of our properties varies in internet accessibility. Some properties offer private WIFI and some are shared. Please refer to the property profile for details on the specifics. We cannot guarantee signal strength during your stay. WIFI is not the same as back home.[hr]

Is my vacation property cleaned daily?

Our properties are cleaned before your arrival and after your departure. You can request a mid-stay clean at an additional charge. A mid-stay clean includes: cleaning all the bathrooms and the kitchen area, vacuuming and dusting, sweeping and mopping and making the beds (no washing of linens and towels included).[hr]

Are the properties wheelchair friendly?

Viewpoint is not wheelchair friendly and does not have an elevator.[hr]

What else should I know about Viewpoint?

Viewpoint is a completely non-smoking development. There is no smoking on the property, but rather off-site outside of the grounds. 

Children under 14 years of age are not allowed at this development.

Most importantly, there is no on-site property manager at Viewpoint. You will be provided with a full guest package of the property as well as a contact name, phone number and email in case of any questions.[hr]

What do we do if we have an issue with the home?

At Bayside Vacations we know that you have concerns about how your personal information is shared. We are committed to ensuring that your personal information is secure at all times. The personal information you provide will only be shared with the appropriate third parties necessary to complete your purchases. This includes the vendors we have selected (e.g., third-party insurance companies,) as well as the third parties facilitating the transactions (e.g., credit card authorization companies). The personal information we provide these third parties will ONLY be that which is necessary to ensure your travel arrangements are successfully confirmed and executed.

Whenever you provide sensitive information (for example, a credit card number to make a purchase), we will take reasonable steps to protect it and will take reasonable security measures to protect your personal information in storage. Credit card numbers are used only for payment processing and are not retained for marketing purposes.
