Some of the most beautiful beaches in the world are situated along the Pacific Coast of Mexico in a city known as Puerto Angel. It is further south of Acapulco and just west of the city of Huatulco. There are five Puerto Angel beaches that offer sand, surf and stunning views of the coastline.

Agustanillo BeachAgustanillo Beach

Just west of Zipolite, you can find the gorgeous Puerto Angel beaches of Agustanillo. There is the smoothest waves here, making them perfect for swimming. You may also want to bring your snorkel gear as there is some great underwater life that you can view easily in the crystal blue waters.

Depending upon when you go, you can find vendors roaming the beaches back and forth that will sell you a range of different tropical drinks and some delicious fish dishes. There are some accommodations at the back of the beach that can offer you some protection from the sun, too.

Mazunte Beachmazunte beach

If you want to view nature at its finest of the Puerto Angel beaches, then Mazunte Beach delivers. This is the beach where most of the turtles come to lay their eggs. There is a Turtle Center located at the beach where you can learn about their history and what is in store for the turtles, too. The beach is a few miles outside of the city, however there are local buses that make the trip from Centro on a regular basis. You can also find plenty of restaurants and bars around the beach.

The surf is fairly rough here in comparison to other Puerto Angel beaches and as a result, brings in a lot of body boarders and other water sports.

Zipolite Beachzipolite beach

When you are looking for one of the Puerto Angel beaches to hit for surfing, then Zipolite beaches are going to be the most popular. Here, there is 1 mile of sandy straight beach that is directly on the ocean. There are many restaurants and bars along this beach and it is about four miles west of town. You may occasionally see a nude sunbather or two here as it is very popular amongst European tourists.

There are no lifeguards on duty and the undertow can be very dangerous, so if there are little ones with you, make sure to keep an eye on them.

Ventanilla Beachventanilla beach

Of the Puerto Angel beaches, Ventanilla is going to be one of the more remote ones. The waters are fairly tame, so swimming is quite popular here. One of the biggest draws of this beach is the lagoon and Mangrove Island. The lagoon has various tours including horseback riding and history tours. There is also quite a bit of local Oaxaca wildlife such as turtles, crocodiles, iguanas, skunks and others that you may come across while visiting this beach.

Beach vendors will offer food and drink as well as some other various tours that you may not be able to find anywhere else. Mangrove Island tours can be very educational as there is a museum and conservation projects always in place.

Bahia Puerto Angelbahia puerto angel

Bahia Puerto Angel is the main beach of all of the Puerto Angel beaches. You can get to it right from the center of town where you can enjoy swimming, snorkeling, boating and much more. The waves can be a little rough at times and there are some rocks to be aware of should you be swimming or walking through the water. There are some great views of the beach and the water from the seawall and restaurants and bars as well as souvenir shops are plentiful around this beach.
